About

THE BANK OF STOKES CROFT

(Scroll down for listings,  or here’s some back ground first) –
Currently the creative epicentre of Bristol, Stokes Croft now has  a new place for all those hardworking arty types to properly unwind.  Housed in the former Allied Irish Bank this new music and food hotspot hasn’t actually traded as a bank since the 1970′s, however it still maintains the original vault which now houses a very cosy snug and the original nightsafe amongst other original features, it also has a secret walled garden out the back. The bar aims to be a great addition t to the already thriving social scene on this once downtrodden strip of Bristol.

Open until 4am every weekend the Bank of Stokes Croft aims to serve up a diverse and cutting edge music policy with DJs such as rising stars  Housework, Pardon My French, s and Dutty Girls,  alongside more established hedonists like Buoyancy, Go Go Fandango, Hot Buttered Soul, and many others.    Expect to hear anything from boogie to Dubstep , from  80′s hip hop to reggae, and from 60′s soul to the latest undergroud house.

Food will also be high on the agenda at the new Bank of Stokes Croft and in keeping with our pub The Spotted Cow, local sourcing and quality ingredients are important. The menu is based on simple dishes made well served simply in bowls so expect anything from a Moroccan Tagine to a Lancashire Hot Pot via a Goan Fish Curry or a French Bouillabaisse served up  with plenty of fresh bread. Adding to this a full brunch menu will be available every weekend with breakfast from 11am. Also we have a great selection of traditional stone baked pizzas,  all at the rather splendind price of just £5.50!

The new bar aims to become a welcome addition to Stokes Croft and is actively involving local designers and artists in the design and artwork of the bar. Local artist Simon Mills has decorated the vault with his trademark doodling alongside many of Bristol’s best loved urban scrawlers including the legendary Paris. As we all know unless you’re Banksy artists normally don’t have much money but they generally like eating and drinking and have exceptionally good taste, so surely a bank that serves great food and drink is better than a regular one where you pay bills and other boring stuff.
